Kindness, or the willingness to do good for others without expecting anything in return, is a capacity that we all have from birth. Unfortunately, as we grow up, we tend to adopt some behaviours that become obstacles to looking out for each other. The good news is that we all have kindness in us, so it is possible to cultivate it.

Being kind at work has long been perceived as a barrier to career advancement. Yet, it has been shown that the most successful teams demonstrate kindness and caring.

In fact, kindness is an essential component of a safe team environment, which allows everyone to be the best version of themselves on a daily basis. However, developing kindness does not mean encouraging employees to forget their own needs.

On the contrary, it is important to be assertive and to respect our needs, while being kind to ourselves and to others.
